aSpeedCam ScannerFix is an advanced vehicle digital dashboard featured by HUD MODE, IPOD PLAYLIST REMOTE CONTROL and EDITABLE FIXED SPEED CAMERAS DATABASE.

aSpeedCam ScannerFix visualizies your

  • current speed,
  • average speed,
  • time,
  • heading,
  • altitude,
  • trip elapsed time,
  • distance/time and direction to stored Home location,
  • current distance to the trip starting point.
  • maximum reached speed, maximum altitude and maximum distance to starting point for the current trip and all the trips your ever did.

Also it shows

  • positions of the nearest known speed cameras within an adjustible range
  • color coded distance to the nearest known speed camera;

The fixed cameras database includes an information about speed cameras in

  • Europe (whole EU)
  • USA
  • Canada
  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • Brazil
  • South Africa
  • Singapore
  • United Arab Emirates
  • Taiwan
  • HongKong
  • Kuwait
  • Russia
  • Thailand.

On approach aSpeedCam ScannerFix will give you sound and visual warning.

  • NOTE: It's not guaranteed all speed cameras in your area are included into the database. However, we will release database updates right after the new information will become available.

  • You can edit the database by adding or removing the speed cameras. Also you can change the camera speed limit
Note, you cannot add cameras in case your GPS precision is lower then 50 meters. In that cases the "ADD/DEL" icon will be grayed out.

  • With aSpeedCamScanner Fix you can create and save the driving routes (Google Directions service is used - the same as for the standard Map application) to follow them later. Application will display your current position on the route and display the route on the map.

Every route is saved in the appplication database, so you don't need to re-create it every time application starts up.

  • Tap "Add" to create a new route, "Delete" erases the selected row of the routes table. Pressing "Go!" makes the selected route "current" - you will see your position on it (red ricle indicates the final position on the route, green circle is start position).

  • For creating a new route you need to set up the start and finish points of your trip, and then tap the "Route!" button. Also, you can define up to 8 waypoints (8 is a limitation of the Google Directions service).
Start, Finish and waypoint positions are draggable - you can just move them over the map by finger to chnge their positions.
  • You can serch the locations on the map by address by using the "search" edit box in the top of the screen.

In some cases you can have more then one alternative route. You can switch btween them using the "<" and ">" buttons, button will open full driving instuctions of the selected route list:

  • You can email the driving instructions to any e-mail address:

  • You can tap "+" or "-" icons to adjust the radar range.

  • You can add new camera just by a single tap at "radar" center:

When you first pressing the "Add camera" screen your position is memorized, so you have time to finish the tagging process.

  • Tapping the "HUD" icon mirrors all the text, so if you position the iPhone horizontally under your car's windscreen you can see perfectly readable half-transparent reflection of the picture displayed.
We love this mode! We found it much more convenient compared to traditional car dashboards (especially on the roads of Western Europe, which are full of speed cameras and where you need to watch your speedometer all the time). And last but not the least - it just looks cool.
Note: this mode works pretty well at night time and twilight, but on direct sunlight the screen brightness can be insufficient.

  • You can stop/play/skip/rewind the current music item in your curent iPod playlist:

Note, you need to use iPod appliction to start initial playback.

  • You can switch between different map styles:

If you selected the monochrome map color, you can adjust it's brightness, what is especially useful at night time. Also, you can use the "invert" option invert map colors.

  • Program downloads the maps data according your moving path, so internet connection (3G or WiFi) is required. However, it re-using your Maps application cache, so it does not re-download it every time you moving on the same places. Depending on your connection plan, some additional charges may apply.
You can switch the map off to save the internet traffic and battery life:

  • Landscape and portrait screen modes supported.

  • aSpeedCam ScannerFix can keep track on 4 speed limits, giving a warning (sound and visual) each time you crossing it. Normally, it's legal speed limits within cities, local roads and high-speed motorways. "Never exceed speed" is the speed you should not exceed under any conditions. For example, it can be a technical limit of your vehicle or the point where government can arrest your driving license.

  • Lock map rotation option lock the map North on top.

  • Trip time display: time elapsed since application startup.

  • Moving time display: time of your trip minus time spent for standing on traffic lights, fueling on petrol stations, etc (i.e. all the time when you are not moving and the speed is zero);

  • Direct distance/time to Home location display: the time is calculated on a basis of your current speed, and should be understood as "minimal time necessary to get to stored Home location on a direct line with current speed". Home location can be reset by tapping the "lightning" icon, located next to the distance;

  • Location Info (longitude and latitude, GPS measurement precision) and some more data is available on separate screen. You can adjust transparency of the "Location Info" screen to use both views at the same time.

Also on the "Records" screen you can see the maximum reached speed, altitude or distance from start, for you current trip or for for all the trips you ever did.

  • You can choose between 4 different color themes.

  • Tap "average speed" indicator to switch to time or altitude display. Tapping the "Nearest Camera" will switch the camera detection off and show the distance to starting point of your trip.

  • Speed log chart is located below the camera data.

  • Several sound options available: "Electro", "Beep" (just another sound to mark the speed limits) and "Morse", when aSpeedCam ScannerFix beeps morse-code for "ONE" when you crossing the first speed limit, "TWO" for second, and "THREE" for third. The startup sound is morse-coded word "HELLO".
  • You can specify different measurement units (km/h, mph, knots and meters per second), display color scheme, sounds and more.

  • Troubleshooting a.k.a FAQ
  • Limitations
    • The program is running only on GPS-enabled iPhones 3G (second generation or higher) with iPhone OS 3.0 or higher. No iPod Touch, 1st-generation iPhones or minor OS versions supported.
    • The precision is affected by the satellite signal quality. On open-sky spaces it's pretty good, but under other conditions can noticeably decrease. Also, after startup it requires some time to locate the necessary satellites, so during first minutes of running the measurement can be less effective. If unsure, use the program only for reference, don't rely on it for 100%.

  • Thanks to everyone for your suggestions about additional functionality, there is a big chance they will be implemented in next version. Please forward your requests or bug reports to requests@atoll-ordenadores.com
